April performance marks strong finish to Winter High Season

WILLEMSTAD – May 13, 2026 – The Curaçao Tourist Board reports that stayover tourism continued to show positive performance in April 2026, reflecting sustained demand for the destination across multiple source markets. During the month, Curaçao welcomed a total of 75,332 stayover visitors, representing a 10% increase compared to April 2025.

Visitor profiles show that most stayover visitors traveled to Curaçao for vacation purposes (90%), while smaller segments visited friends and relatives (3%) or came for business-related travel (3%). Visitors stayed an average of 7.9 nights, reflecting meaningful time spent on the island. Extended stays continue to support broad participation across the local economy, benefiting accommodations, dining establishments, transportation providers, and tour operators.

Top 3 Source Markets in April 2026

The Netherlands: Stayover arrivals from The Netherlands reached 24,620 in April 2026, marking Curaçao’s largest source market and an outstanding performance with a notable 11% increase compared to last year. Most Dutch visitors (55%) chose non-resort accommodations, while 45% stayed at resorts. Dutch visitors represented 33% of all stayover arrivals during the month. On average, Dutch visitors stayed approximately 11.4 nights on the island.

United States of America: The United States remained a strong contributor to Curaçao’s tourism performance, with 20,491 stayover arrivals, reflecting a 14% increase compared to the same month last year. US visitors represented 27% of all stayover arrivals. Sixty-eight percent of visitors from the United States stayed at resort hotels, while the remaining 32% selected alternative lodging options. The average stay of US visitors was approximately 5.5 nights.

Canada: Curaçao welcomed 4,754 visitors from Canada in April 2026, marking a 22% increase over the same period last year. Canadian visitors accounted for 6% of total stayover arrivals. On average, Canadian visitors stayed 7.3 nights in Curaçao, with 49% preferring resort hotels. Canadian market continued to demonstrate stable growth and strong interest in the destination.
