WILLEMSTAD – August 20, 2026 – For the second consecutive year, Carnival Corporation invited students from Curaçao to participate in its Educational Student Ship Visit, this time aboard Carnival Horizon. The program included an educational session, a panel discussion on career opportunities within the cruise industry, a guided tour of the ship and lunch on board. Curaçao Tourist Board (CTB) coordinated the participation of 21 students from the University of Curaçao (UoC) and the College of the Dutch Caribbean (CDC) in this initiative. Through this initiative, the students gained valuable insights into Carnival Corporation, its operations, and the broader cruise industry.
The students selected to participate this year are currently pursuing studies in tourism and hospitality, making the experience particularly relevant to their academic and professional development. The participating UoC students are entering their second year of the International Hospitality & Tourism Management program. The CDC participants are first-, second-, and third-year students enrolled in either the Tourism Management or Tourism and Recreation Supervisor program. During the Q&A session, students engaged with industry professionals and gained further insight into the cruise industry and its career opportunities.
Additionally, during the visit, a strategic meeting was held between representatives of Carnival Corporation and Curaçao. Carnival Corporation was represented by Ms. Sarah Beth Reno, Chief Operations Officer and Ms. Marie McKenzie, Senior Vice President, Government & Destination Affairs. Representing Curaçao were Ms. Zulaika Mook, Sector Director Economic Development and Innovation at the Ministry of Economic Development, Mr. Muryad de Bruin, Director of CTB, and Mr. Humberto de Castro, Director of Curaçao Ports Authority.
The visit aboard Carnival Horizon provided an enriching educational experience for the participating students. CTB extends its sincere appreciation to Carnival Corporation for its continued collaboration and commitment to providing meaningful learning opportunities for students in Curaçao.
