Marie Pampoen Recreation Area
The development of the Marie Pampoen Recreation Area is funded through the Ministry of Economic Development and consists of four phases. The first phase was finished in 2017 and the third phase, although already operational, is set to conclude in early 2024. Plans are to start construction of phase 4 during 2024.
The project encompasses several recreational and sport facilities like beach areas, a children’s playground, an outdoor fitness area, a picnic spot, a skatepark, a beach volleyball court, a sport complex (including a soccer field, a multisport court and jeu de boules courts), kiosks, restrooms, lighting, and landscaping infrastructure. The project provides ample attention to environmental sustainability and aims to create a secure and enjoyable space for people of all ages, including both locals and tourists.
The Curaçao Tourist Board manages the Marie Pampoen Recreation Area on a day to day basis and recently introduced an online system for requesting its use for social events.
