WILLEMSTAD – December 6, 2025 –Recently Curaçao proudly celebrated the arrival of American Airlines’ inaugural flight from Chicago, introducing an exciting new route that further enhances our island’s accessibility. As a key partner, American Airlines already connects Curaçao with Miami and Charlotte. The flight from Chicago will operate on Saturdays. Serving as a major hub for American Airlines, Chicago opens the door to convenient connections from numerous cities throughout United States. This new Chicago service aligns with Curaçao’s strategic goals to continue expanding in the US, giving tourist from different cities the opportunity to experience our beautiful beaches, vibrant culture, rich cuisine, and friendly people. At the same time, the new American Airlines connection offers even more travel opportunities for our local community.
Tourists from Chicago can now escape the cold and enjoy Curaçao’s great weather year-round. At the same time, this connection also brings tourism growth, business opportunities, and cultural exchange. During the ceremony, Minister of Governance, Planning, and Public Service, Kimberly Lew-Jen-Tai on behalf of Minister Roderick Middelhof, Nelson Cortes, General Manager Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao of American Airlines, Peggy Croes, SVP Aviation Market Development of Curaçao Airport Partners and Julian Diaz de Pool, Commercial Manager at Curaçao Airport Holding, delivered remarks. Later, Minister Lew-Jen-Tai and Hugo Clarinda, Deputy Director at the Curaçao Tourist Board along with other partners, presented a commemorative plaque to Nelson Cortes of American Airlines in appreciation of the inaugural flight. The plaque highlights a beautiful view of Curaçao’s Handelskade.
