WILLEMSTAD – August 14, 2025 – As part of Carnival Corporation’s Youth Summer Ship Visit series, students in Curaçao had the opportunity to participate in an educational session aboard the cruise ship Carnival Celebration during its call to Curaçao. The session began with detailed information about the roles and responsibilities of the ship’s different departments. This was followed by a guided tour, lunch on board, and entertainment. The project enabling students from Curaçao to participate in the ship visit was coordinated by the Curaçao Tourist Board (CTB) in close collaboration with the Curaçao Ports Authority (CPA). Participants included 12 students from the University of Curaçao and 24 youth participants who were part of CTB’s Youth Tourism Experience Program. The Minister of Economic Development, drs. Roderick Middelhof, also joined part of the tour and thanked the Carnival Celebration for its hospitality.
During the Q&A session, students asked various questions related to the application process for working on cruise ships, the qualifications required, and other topics directly connected to the ship operations. Representatives from both CPA and CTB presented the ship’s captain with Curaçao souvenirs as a token of appreciation. On behalf of CTB, Mr. Andre Rojer, Product Manager, presented the captain with a token made of recycled plastic in the shape of Curaçao.
The experience aboard the Carnival Celebration was truly unforgettable for the students. The CTB expressed its gratitude to Carnival Corporation for the opportunity. The visit to the ship was undoubtedly a valuable educational experience, giving the students deeper insight into the cruise industry and the wide range of career opportunities it offers.
